Three days journey...lets begin.
This web site is dedicated to those on a “three day journey” into the wilderness to experience God face-to-face. As with the Hebrews, our journey has changed our lives and we will never go back.
NIV Exodus 8:27 We must take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God, as he commands us."
Moses said these words to Pharaoh prior to the Exodus. The Pharaoh wondered why they had to leave
NIV Exodus 8:26 But Moses said, "That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the LORD our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us?
Often times one must leave a country, or a people in order to find God. The institution of religion has provided hope and help to millions of people. We have known beloved souls that have learned love and kindness and felt accepted inside the doors of a church. We have served as lay pastors and Sunday school teachers with hearts of faith. However, religion itself can become it’s own
There is a term used in the original Hebrew Scriptures that is read “paynim el paynim” and is translated “face to face” with God. I longed for that, my life became a passionate search for that moment. I wanted to be so close to the face of God that I could feel His breath on my cheek. I wanted to KNOW my heavenly father. This website is for those who are also looking for that experience, for those who long to journey towards the face of God and have not yet been supported in that journey. We encourage you to step outside the confines of doctrine and experience the passion and the peace of “PAYNIM EL PAYNIM”.
NIV Deuteronomy 5:4 The LORD spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.
Where do we start?
This site is not meant in any way to be misunderstood as a religious doctrine or teaching, but as a shared experience. We will share with you our journey, and hopefully support you on yours.
The first thing that must be dealt with on this journey is the question of written doctrine. I am not disrespecting the bible at all, just suggesting that there is more to the journey for God than just a single book. Did you know that the
What I am suggesting here, is to not be swayed by people who tell you that every single word in the bible was spoken by the divine. I have been taught at numerous churches that each word has almost a magic to it and that “if He would have meant “and” He would have said “and”, instead He said “but”….” That thinking will get you into trouble. Unless you speak ancient Hebrew and were standing there when it was spoken, you don’t KNOW what word was said. Remember---Jesus and Moses didn’t speak the Queens English.
The important thing to remember is what CONCEPTS are being taught. Any good bible scholar knows that it is about the big picture. After thousands of years and hundreds of translations into hundreds of languages, you cannot put so much emphasis on an individual word. Don’t be micromanaged. Be guided.
I am not saying that the bible is meaningless—heavens no!!! It is an inspired, beautiful, sacred teaching that deserves study and brings great comfort to millions of people. God speaks to us in the words-----but He also speaks to us in other writings and in other ways. I find great comfort in the writings of the Essenes and in alternate books such as the book of Solomon’s Wisdom. Don’t let your church tell you that any scripture outside the doctrine of your church is evil. I challenge you to find out for yourself what evil truly is, and what grace truly is.
We started our journey with a study of biblical Hebrew and the original Torah. What a wonderful part of our journey that was!!! We met people who were kind and loving and seeking the face of God. I have a deep love and respect for the Jewish culture and was so very blessed by the Hebrew language. We met God in a whole new way in the Torah. The original scripture in the original language is a journey that MUST NOT be missed. We introduce some very basic words and concepts in this site, but suggest a deeper personal study on your own.
The next step in our journey has been a study of the origin of the bible and a historical study of the times surrounding that writing. Once again, we introduce basic facts at this site and ALWAYS suggest further study on your own.
We then found ourselves in a study of the different sects of early Christianity, such as the Gnostics and the Essenes. That opened up a door to a study of Egyptian beliefs, and eventually a study of all faiths that believe in ONE God. We were not trying to convert-- we simply wanted to understand the ORIGIN of faith.
The origin of faith often led us to the pagan root of Christianity. This is the most difficult part for the vast majority of seekers. People have a tendency to turn their heads when it gets too close. This separates the seekers from the spectators.
We have spent years on our three day journey. It has been difficult and wonderful. We have been alone and weathered many storms and stone throwings. We have not arrived, but I feel that we are at the
